Let's be proud of our own inspirational Asian Idol.

Hady Mirza's victory ought to be celebrated, not judged, not criticised and he definitely should not be dissed by his own fellow countrymen. His win is justified. It just proves that you don't have to be the best singer to win, really. He strategized and won. It's not just a singing competition. It's also about how smart he played the game. He sang in Hindi, chose "Berserah", Taufik's song in an attempt to bring Taufik Batisah's fans over to his side and vote (pandai ambil hati, is that wrong??). See, he won the competition by competing smartly. He may not be the most deserving, you'd like to argue but yet, i think Hady will make the best out of this win, Singapore's win. Isn't it about time this country gets some recognition for something good and not our fast-paced, stressful lifestyle. We're known as the country which banned chewing gum, for goodness sake!!!

Hady won people over with his ability to stay grounded and real. I honestly think Taufik would be too arrogant to do that. He has let fame get to his head, everybody can see that. Then again, i suppose he is the first Singapore Idol, so why not give him some room for arrogance? It's not his fault, i guess. But you really have to admire Hady's genuine gratitude to his supporters and he just comes across as such a pleasant person, dont you think? He's just so nice!

I admit that i was more of a Jonathan Leong supporter and i was furious when Hady was crowned Singapore Idol but over time, Hady won me over! I grew fond of him and i had to admit grudgingly that he's alot more pleasant to listen to. Taufik is rather sengau la. He sings through his nose. Haha. And Jonathan, he's voice is too deep, he's not exactly as versatile as Hady is. Although i think he's really cute and hot and all that.

I'd still vote, if Taufik were to have competed instead. It's not about who went, really. It's about Singapore's rather small pool of singing talent and we must do what we can to support them. Is sixty cents too much? Just once will do. It's just sixty cents, after all- if not on Hady, i'd probably have spent it on Coke, which is rather calorie laden-but that's a different story.

Besides,Singaporeans already don't give a hoot about Miss Singapore Universe and that i can understand why- because i really think "beauty for a cause" is just utter nonsense; like how can parading in a gown help children in Africa, i'd like to know, and i'm sure many others share the same view too. But since such competitions are still held anyway, then somebody better do something to help those poor pretty Miss Universes who claimed that they were "thrown to the sharks" during those glitzy international peageants. Otherwise, why even bother in the first place?? Might as well put the money that went into the funding of these beauty competitions directly to good use. Send it straight to WorldVision or something.
