Companionship on Demand

Everyone keeps ranting, “you just want a boyfriend”
But this is what I want: Companionship on Demand.

I feel a lot of kids in college don’t want a relationship. Like at least not a full-fledged one. Sometimes there’s just days where you wouldn’t mind someone caring about you in that kind of way because it’s a little pick me up high that everyone enjoys at least once a while. But to deal with another person, the responsibility of “the title” its a lot of work.

What I want is “Companionship on Demand”. Where 1-2 days out of the week I DO have that “companion” to watch movies with, sleep with, eat food with, play video games with, read with, study with, hold hands until its sweaty with. And then the other 5-6 days just be absolutely single. Doesn’t mean whore around. Sleep with 504903898 guys because that’s gross and how diseases spread. But it means just not worrying about calling that person, making sure that person is happy. That the relationship is still at green light. That’s time consuming and the arguing of a relationship is such a headache.

I don’t see how not wanting a serious relationship is bad. Or how people confuse my want for companionship on demand as a bad thing, or that I just want a boyfriend. I don’t. I don’t see the appeal of being in a restrictive relationship. I don’t see how its slutty either. We’re young, being tied down to one person. I honestly think I’ll coin the term, “Companionship on Demand”

Somedays you just want that ‘boyfriend’ but not a real boyfriend. Just someone to cuddle and watch a movie and eat chinese food with. Or draw, or cook food for. And then when the day is over, I’m still able to chill with who I want, without worrying about hurting someone’s feelings. To meet new people without feeling like I shouldn’t be doing anything. I feel like CODs would be awesome. I want one. THAT'S what I’m looking for.

Someone find me a willing candidate!

xx

Amen to that, sista!
